For years, Panini’s Bar and Grill has been a staple for Kent State students and residents — a place to grab food, watch games and meet up with friends. But earlier last week, regulars were caught off guard when word spread that the longtime restaurant had officially closed its doors and was sold to a new owner.
Reactions to the closure have been mixed. Some students say they will miss the familiarity of Panini’s and the memories tied to it, while others feel the change will not impact their routines. Still, many agree on one thing: They are excited for something new and are curious to see how a new business might reshape South Water Street.
The Nut House Pub and Grill, co-owned by chef Lee Turano, is preparing to move in. Workers have been going in and out of the location last week, and the owners hope to open next Thursday, Nov. 20.
