The Kent State men’s basketball team picked up a pair of highly-touted prospects on National Signing Day. Guards Jakhi Calloway and Dhani Miller, both coming from solid high school programs, will join the Flashes next season.
Calloway, coming out of Bishop Hartley High School in Columbus, was the second-highest rated point guard in the state of Ohio according to Neo Spotlight. During his time as a high school athlete, Calloway has racked up quite the awards list, being named to the All-Ohio Third Team and All-District and All-Conference First Teams as a member of the Hawks.
“Jakhi Calloway is a true point guard,” coach Rob Senderoff said. “We’ve watched him play all throughout his high school career and his AAU career. He really has the ability to break down a defense, compete defensively and knows how to make guys better.”
Miller, hailing from Roselle, NJ, is currently playing for the prestigious Montverde Academy, which has given the basketball world the likes of Cade Cunningham and Scottie Barnes. Despite receiving other offers from Division One programs like Louisiana at Lafayette and Central Florida, Miller ultimately chose the Flashes.
“His father works for the Orlando Magic and is somebody I’ve known for 30 years in the profession,” Senderoff said. “When he sent me his film, we went and watched him this summer and he immediately became our top priority in the high school class of 2026.”
