On Monday, the Kent State men’s basketball team welcomed in sophomore forward Godslove Nwabude via the transfer portal.
Nwabude, the Nigerian native, is transferring from Eastern Michigan University and staying in the Mid-American Conference after playing for the Eagles for the previous two seasons.
Receiving offers out of high school from Eastern Michigan University, Mississippi State University, the University of Missouri and West Virginia, Nwabude took his talents to Ypsilanti and has developed into a two-way talent.
Nwabude averaged 5.4 points and 5.5 rebounds on 65.8% shooting in the 2025-26 season. He also added 1.6 blocks and 0.6 steals per game, anchoring the defense with his 6’9 frame.
Averaging 19.4 minutes per game this past season, Nwabude looks to continue to make an impact on the court while at Kent State. The junior made 30 starts as a member of the Eagles, and he looks to bring his starting experience to this Kent State team.
After losing their entire starting lineup to the transfer portal or graduation, coach Rob Senderoff has added his first piece in trying to rebuild the Flashes into MAC contenders.
