Senior forward Delrecco Gillespie was awarded his third Mid-American Conference Player of the Week award this season on Monday.
In the Kent State men’s basketball team’s win against the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Wednesday, Gillespie scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the process. The forward was not done after one game, as Gillespie dropped another 22 points and 14 rebounds in a win against the Ball State Cardinals on Saturday.
Gillespie added two double-doubles in both games this week, bringing his season total to 20 and still leading the nation in that category.
“He’s blossomed into one of the best players in the conference in my opinion,” coach Rob Senderoff said. “And there are a lot of great players in our conference.”
With five games remaining in the 2025-26 regular season, Gillespie is averaging 19.1 points and currently leads the MAC in rebounds, sitting at 11.9 per game.
The Flashes, along with Gillespie, will be back in action Tuesday night against the Bowling Green Falcons.
“Our guys feed off his energy,” Senderoff said. “The best attribute he has to me is his constant desire to win.”
