Snow flew through the air and laughs rang loud as a brutal snowstorm brought the Kent State campus together in a spontaneous snowball fight Sunday night.

Barstool Kent first posted the event on Instagram, calling for students to meet outside Taylor Hall at 6 p.m. The post gained over 1,000 likes and 400 shares, displaying the community’s excitement.
Eliza Gorek, a freshman global health major, heard about the event through friends and immediately dropped her previous plans to spend time making memories.
“I decided that studying was for losers and I had to come here,” Gorek said. “I do not regret my decision at all.”
While Gorek was fully bundled up in a coat, gloves, a scarf and a headband, her friends made sure she didn’t stay dry for long, continuously throwing powdery snow on her.
“I’m really, really cold,” Gorek said. “Really, really, really cold.”
A massive blizzard across Kent brought a winter storm warning and accumulations of over 10 inches of snow. The snow is expected to last late into the night Sunday, with the advisory in effect until 10 a.m. Monday.
The large accumulations of snow allowed the event to not only be limited to snowball fights, as countless students lined the top of hills and took turns sledding down.

“I ski a few times a year,” Max Zuschin, a senior nursing major, said. “Rather than paying for a lift ticket, I decided to come out here and have a good time with my friends.”
Laughs and shrieks echoed through the field as students tackled each other, and snow-covered smiles could be seen all over.
Throughout the night, students continuously echoed the sentiment that others who weren’t in attendance were missing out.
“We’re just out here shredding some hills and having some fun,” Anthony Antoniades, a junior business management major, said. “If you’re in your dorm, you’re missing a lot.”
Kent State has cancelled classes because of the storm on Monday, freeing up more time for students to continue making memories in the snow.
