Best of Kent: Best Vegetarian/Vegan Food
1st: Pita Pit
Pita Pit is a staple of Acorn Alley. A great place for a quick bite to eat, their “build your own sandwich” approach makes it easy for anyone with a special diet to find their new favorite. An entire menu section devoted to “Veggie Pitas” like “Falafel,” “Spicy Black Bean,” “Hummus” and “Garden” pitas make it especially appealing to vegetarians or vegans.
“It’s tasty, and it’s fresh,” said former Kent State student Jacob Strok.
If you’re craving a fresh take on an old favorite, Pita Pit is the way to go.
2nd: GRAZERS
GRAZERS focuses on healthy eating and offering plenty of options for everyone. The menu holds a wide variety of “build your own” selections.
“We specialize in variety,” said assistant Karl Bower. “You choose a base and a protein, and as far as vegetarian proteins go, you can get anything from vegan chili, black beans, (or) edamame, to falafel. Most of our toppings are organic and if you’re vegan, we have vegan cheese substitute.”
Vegetarians and vegans will certainly feel at home at GRAZERS, where their diets have been prioritized.
3rd: Laziza
Open for lunch and dinner, Laziza is sure to provide something different than your typical restaurant.
Featuring Mediterranean food as well as a menu of signature in-house drinks and cocktails, Laziza is also the home of unique performances by belly dancers, bringing entertainment to your dining experience.
The Mediterranean menu makes it easy for vegetarian guests to find their new favorite meal, including salads, hummus, vegetarian Diwali, wraps and more.
Favorites include: “The Spanish paella, as well as anything with the blackened salmon; it’s fantastic,” Kyle Chaboudy, manager of the establishment said.
Vegetarian or otherwise, Laziza is great for days when you feel like expanding your palette.
