The Kent State lacrosse team played its final game of the season this Saturday and lost 19-5 against UMass. The Flashes finished 7-10 on the year and 2-5 in the Mid-American Conference.
“We started out kind of on our heels,” coach Brianne Tierney said. “We were just not playing like ourselves defensively.”
The Flashes didn’t score any in the first quarter, but junior attackers Morgan Halli and Haleigh Greenberg each scored one in the second, putting KSU down 12-2 going into halftime. The Flashes netted three more goals before the end of the game, but ultimately lost 15-9.
Senior midfielder Zayda Crumpton scored, as did junior midfielder Megan Klepacki and senior attacker Emily Bond.
Junior goalkeeper Sydney Davis played for 49 minutes and recorded 11 saves.
“UMass was a really strong team,” Tierney said. “They joined the MAC this year, and we really need to level up to compete with them in the years to come.”
