Flashes Give Back Week at Kent State University brought students and alumni together for a week of service on campus and Northeast Ohio. Organized with the help of Kent Student Ambassadors, the initiative featured a wide range of volunteer opportunities like the Akron Canton Food Bank and helping out at the County Clothing Center in Ravenna.
Held April 13–18, the annual event went from a single day into a week full of philanthropy since its start in 2009. offering a multitude of ways for participants to give back in ways that matter most to them. The events encourage volunteers to make a meaningful impact in their communities by combating food insecurity, supporting education, cleaning up local spaces or donating supplies. Along with the opportunities to help communities in Ohio, Kent State students had the chance to give their thanks to a person or the school as whole with “thank a giver” on Thursday April 16.
The week emphasized the university’s motto of “Flashes taking care of Flashes,” encouraging both current students and alumni to give back and stay connected through these events. Organizers highlighted how these experiences not only make an immediate impact but also inspire long-term engagement in service after graduation for everyone.
