This week, junior Veronika Kedronova had the honor of participating in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur as a prelude to the Masters Tournament. She had the opportunity to demonstrate her skill in the course among some of the top amateur women’s golfers in the country.
Round 1
In round one, Kedronova finished in the middle of the pack, placing 49th with a two-over-par (74).
Her performance was hurt by a double bogey on the sixth hole, but she found more success on the back nine, going one-under-par (35).
Despite some struggles in round one, she had one more round to prove herself to qualify for round three. There was a lot of ground to make up, but Kedronova’s competitive edge kept the goal in sight.
Round 2
Round two was a repeat for Kedronova as she shot another two-over-par (74), bringing her total to four-over-par (148).
She did not make the cut for the third round, placing in a tie for 53rd. The cut was one-under-par, and only 32 out of the 72 golfers advanced to the third round.
The 21-year-old got off to a fast start with a birdie on the first hole, but bogeyed on the next three holes.
Despite missing the third round, Kedronova proved that she belonged among some of the top amateur golfers in the world.
Ranked 51st in the world, Kedronova’s season is far from over as the Kent State women’s golf team looks to win the Mid-American Conference tournament and make some noise in the National Championship.
