Senior forward Delrecco Gillespie announced his plans to enter the transfer portal following the Kent State men’s basketball team’s loss to the Illinois State Redbirds in the National-Invite Tournament. Gillespie made this announcement on his Instagram account.
Earlier in the year, Gillespie was awarded an extra year of college eligibility due to an injury sustained earlier in his career. Gillespie’s entire four-year collegiate career has been spent at KSU, but he will now look for a new home to finish it.
Leading the nation in double-doubles with 22, the forward took a huge leap this past season, averaging 10 more points than the year before. NBA scouts even took note of Gillespie, who averaged 18.1 points and 11.2 rebounds per game.
