With spring break underway, a local faith-based nonprofit in Ravenna is keeping kids active and engaged with a free basketball league.
The league, open to youth of all skill levels ages 10 to 18 years old, is designed to provide a safe and fun environment for youth while also offering families a community-centered activity during the break.
Founded in 2020, The Beloved Community has hosted several youth programs over the years. For this spring break, they are holding a free basketball league, the nonprofit is providing all necessary equipment, including basketballs and jerseys, even shoes for players, as well as snacks and drinks for participants.
Volunteers and staff are on hand to coach, mentor, supervise and ensure a welcoming environment for every youth individual. The program is entirely funded through donations from local residents and businesses, reflecting the community’s support for keeping the youth active and off the sidelines in a place filled with care and guidance.
In addition to the free basketball league, The Beloved Community is planning and holding many other family friendly events throughout the week that give back to local families in the community, giving parents and kids a chance to connect with their community and enjoy the spring break together.
