7 17 Credit Union announced their forthcoming Kent State University Athletics Affinity Credit Card at a Coffee & Connections event that took place at the 7 17 Kent Branch.
7 17 representatives engaged in conversation with Kent State Athletics personnel over coffee and refreshments while attendees received an exclusive preview of the new card. 7 17 Credit Union is a community-chartered financial institution that has faithfully served Northeast Ohio for over 68 years.
As the former Kent State Student Credit Union, 7 17 is the official credit union of Kent State Athletics. 7 17’s newest Affinity Card was designed to cement the credit union’s enduring relationship with Kent State, while simultaneously encouraging new opportunities for Golden Flashes to invest in their student athletes.
A principal attribute of the Affinity Card includes an integrated give-back component; a percentage totaling 7.17 cents of every card swipe will directly benefit Kent State Athletics. Holders will be eligible to take advantage of special introductory offers, including: 7.17% introductory APR for the first 90 days, 7.17% introductory balance transfer rate for 90 days and cost-saving incentives that members can use to conserve funds while simultaneously backing the Golden Flash team.
Those who attended the event mingled with Kent State coaches and learned the benefits of the card from 7 17 representatives who were present and available to answer any questions. The new card’s release symbolizes 7 17 Credit Union’s dedicated pursuit of the welfare of the Kent State community by establishing meaningful campus and financial wellness programs.
The credit union originated with one location in Warren, OH, serving the needs of members employed by IUE Local 717 Packard Electric, and is now the largest credit union in Northeast Ohio with 12 locations and over 125,000 members in Trumbull, Mahoning, Portage and Stark counties.
“At 7 17, we believe our Affinity Partner Credit Card is one of the best in the country,” said Abigail Cloutier, the director of communications and media relations, in an email. “It’s a win-win. Cardholders get to support an organization they care about, while every swipe gives back 7.17 cents to the partner organization. The 7.17% APR for the first 90 days means that any balance transferred or accrued during that time keeps that APR until it’s paid off. After the first 90 days, your APR is based on your creditworthiness for any additional purchases.”
7 17 Credit Union CEO John Demmler also gave his thoughts on this promotion.
“Our ties to Kent State go back decades,” Demmler said in an email. “We’re the successor credit union to Kent State Credit Union. We take pride in our heritage of being the hometown credit union for Kent State students. We believe student athletic programs create a better student experience and on-campus experience. Our goal is to support the community’s pride in Kent State and its athletic program.”
Membership for 7 17 Credit Union is open to everyone in Ohio. You can acquire more information at 717cu.com.
