LatkeFest Brief
The second annual LatkeFest will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Cohn Jewish Student Center.
The event, hosted by Alpha Epsilon Pi and Hillel at Kent State, will raise money for three charities. The group will sell latke, a traditional Jewish potato pancake.
All proceeds will go to Keshet, an organization that encourages community integration for individuals with developmental disabilities; Sharsheret, a national non-profit organization supporting Jewish women facing breast cancer; and Save a Child’s Heart, an Israeli-based organization that provides cardiac surgery to children from developing countries.
“We’re very excited to see our students taking this leadership role in raising money for these worthwhile organizations,” said Ricky Marcus, Hillel’s director of Jewish student life. “Helping to repair the world is a fundamental Jewish value, and Hillel is happy to partner with Alpha Epsilon Pi to work toward that goal.”
The event will have a latke-eating contest and all-you-can-eat latke buffet for those who do not participate in the contest. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for non-students. Registration fees for contest participants are $25 per person or two for $35. Tickets will also be available at the door.
