What the new Ohio voting law means for young voters
House Bill 458 is now in effect in Ohio, and it requires all eligible voters to provide a state-issued ID.
The law attempts to eliminate voter fraud but creates an extra barrier for young people to vote.
At Kent State University, students were previously able to vote in Portage County using a college ID or a utility bill. Now Ohio law requires all voters to have a state photo ID.
The law adds an extra step for out-of-state students since they do not already have an Ohio ID.
