Women’s Center facilitates “Gender Equity Today” to spread awareness on educational disparities in women
As Women’s History Month comes to a close, the Women’s Center facilitated a peer discussion called “Gender Equity Today.” The conversation included topics like feminism, women in politics and other social justice issues.
The Women’s Center interns gave a powerpoint presentation and facilitated two craft activities to empower women in the community.
The group decorated bags to then stuff with period products like pads and tampons, to give to local school districts. They also drew on bookmarks with quotes about women empowerment to give to nonprofits who help young women in schools.
The Women’s Center will host one last event Women’s History Month where students are invited to explore womanhood in a creative writing workshop April 5, at the Wick Poetry Center.
TV2’s Alexandria Manthey attended the event and has more.
