OPINION: Starbucks has the best water
When you think of Starbucks I’m sure you think of coffee. Rightfully so. Starbucks is one of the easiest ways to obtain a quick latte before work or on a long trip.
As a Starbucks lover and someone who is caffeine dependent, I find myself at Starbucks three to five times a week. Insane, I know. But what I’ve grown to love outside of my grande iced oat milk latte with two stevias or my venti strawberry acai refresher with green tea (hold that lemonade please, thank you) is a venti cup of water.
I’ve always been someone to have more than one drink at once, and I rarely find myself visiting Starbucks without ordering a venti cup of water. There is something about the way it tastes. It is so refreshing and bonus – free. It is no secret that Starbucks comes at a high-ish cost for what is easily considered a fast-food coffee option. It’s consistent. It’s accessible. It’s delicious.
Why is Starbucks’ water so enjoyable? It’s triple-filtered. Easy enough. And it comes as no shock. What makes the perfect cup of coffee is class coffee beans and filtered water. So, to ensure Starbucks drinks are consistently high quality, they use a triple-filtered water system.
Starbucks uses reverse osmosis within its stores to supply filtered water. In a three-step process, tap water goes through a plethora of filters that remove sediment, then moves to an activated carbon filter removing any unwanted tastes and finishes up traveling through a woven layer separating the water and potential contaminants.
Starbucks has one goal in mind, and that is to serve a high-quality coffee option to its customers as efficiently and effectively as possible. Their water process is an important step in doing so.
As a coffee drinker, but not a connoisseur, I can appreciate the action Starbucks takes when filtering its water and attempting to ensure its products are met with the highest quality of ingredients possible.
I love Starbucks water, and it seems the more it’s talked about, the more popularity it gains. I often see peers and mentors with a venti Starbucks water in their hands walking around campus so I know I’m not the only one.
Caffeine will always be number one in my heart, but Starbucks’ triple-filtered water will forever be a close second.
