Shutout times two: Hockey loses two straight to Ohio University

Ohio University shut out Kent State’s hockey team twice this weekend, but coach Zachary Nowak said it was a “good learning weekend for all of us.”

Kent State lost at OU 3-0 Friday and 6-0 Saturday.

“It was definitely a tough weekend,” Nowak said. “OU is a pretty good team, but I do think there was a lot of growth from the team in finding some common ground as a group.”

The Flashes are now 6-9-1 in the American Collegiate Hockey Association. The Bobcats are 16-4.

“We were hoping to win some games,” Nowak said. “But ultimately, we can’t control the result. We were hoping to just show up and compete and play a team game.”

As the first half of the season comes to an end, Nowak said that he wants the boys to “come back in January refreshed and ready to play.”

The Flashes’ next game is against John Carroll at 6:40 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Kent State Ice Arena.
