Kent State’s football team went silent after seeing first quarter success against Toledo Saturday.

The Flashes fell to the Rockets 52-31.

In three minutes and 35 seconds of possession time, Kent State was already up 21-0. The score was 21-7 by the end of the first quarter.

Junior running back Marquez Cooper scored the first and third touchdowns. Redshirt junior quarterback Collin Schlee rushed in for the second.

Toledo scored three unanswered touchdowns in the second quarter to tie the game 28-28. Sophomore kicker Andrew Glass gave KSU the lead going into the half 31-28.

From 12:34 in the second quarter and on, Toledo outscored Kent State 45-3. Kent State did not score in the second half.

The MAC’s top ranked defense held redshirt junior quarterback Collin Schlee to 162 yards passing and an interception.

The Flashes gave up 490 offensive yards. They move to 2-5 on the season and 1-2 in the Mid-American Conference East.

The Rockets are now 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the MAC West.
