Students ‘Blastoff!’ into new academic year
Students gathered on Risman Plaza for games, prizes, food trucks and more at the 2022 Back to School Blastoff! event.
The event, hosted annually by the Center for Student Involvement, ran from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. outside the student center on Wednesday.
Blastoff! is a university tradition that falls at the end of “KSU Kickoff,” the series of events and activities leading up to the start of the fall semester, typically aimed at involving first-year and transfer students and welcoming them to campus. KSU Kickoff began on Aug. 21 and included other events including convocation, the annual class photo and more.
Students from various campus organizations signed up to table at the event and invite students to get involved with their organizations, including service and social groups.
Following Blastoff!, Undergraduate Student Government invited students to attend a concert on the lawn featuring Kent disc-jockey DJ Smillz.
