William B. Allen sees February as a month of inspiration for everyone who believes in black history.

Library and Media Services will present Radicals and Librarians: Finding Inspiration in Black History at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in room 306 of the Student Center to celebrate Black History Month. The presentation will be given by Allen, a professor of political science at Michigan State University.

“His speech will be focused on the importance of Black History Month and how everyone can find inspiration in black history,” said Mark Weber, dean of library and media services.

Allen, along with his wife Carol, is the co-author of Habits of Mind: Fostering Access and Excellence in Higher Education. The book addresses issues in higher education such as the academic readiness of today’s students and the capacity of American universities to provide a quality education. It also addresses the growing costs of higher education and how it affects funding.

“We can all benefit from hearing him speak,” he said.

The presentation is open to the university community and public.
