After a disappointing 3-0 shutout against non-conference foe James Madison (1-0) in their season opener, Kent State field hockey will look to rebound from that loss this weekend as they continue their east coast road trip against Dartmouth Saturday and Boston College on Sunday.
Saturday will serve as the Big Green’s season opener, while the Flashes (0-1) have one game under their belt in the young season. Last season, it was Kent State that emerged victorious in the two teams’ only meeting, as the Flashes came away with a 4-1 win. Dartmouth went 8-9 last season, finishing 4-3 in the Ivy League.
Boston College opened up its season with a 4-2 win over Massachusetts yesterday.
When the teams meet on Sunday at Boston College, it will be the first contest played on the newly integrated Astroturf surface on the Eagles’ home field.
The two teams did not face each other last season, where Boston College constantly flirted with the top ten national rankings through much of the season en route to a NCAA Tournament appearance. The Eagles went 17-6 before losing to Michigan State 4-0 in the tournament opener a year ago.
Following the upcoming weekend trip, the “Road Warriors” of Kent State will have played three of their initial eight away games to start the season before their home opener on Sept. 25 against Michigan, just days after their Mid-American Conference opener with Miami on Sept. 23.
