Tables turn on Kent State soccer team

Kent State soccer’s two-game winning streak ended in Northwestern Ohio with two losses versus Toledo and Bowling Green this weekend.
Last weekend, the Flashes (6-8-2, 3-4-1 Mid-American Conference) held their opponents to two shutout performances, but they were on the other end of the goal with two non-scoring games of their own Friday and yesterday.
The Flashes were unable to hand Toledo (10-5, 5-3 MAC) its first loss in four games in a 2-0 final yesterday.
Kent State was outshot 16-3 in the match. It was the fewest amount of attempts of the season.
Toledo posted its first goal of the game late in the first half and started off the second half with another goal.
Overall, the Flashes recorded six saves against Toledo. Five were by junior Alicia Fernandez, and the other was earned by the team.
While the Flashes lead the Rockets in all-time play 6-3-1.
Before heading to Toledo, the Flashes lost 2-0 against Bowling Green in Friday’s match.
The Flashes took on the Falcons (9-6, 5-2 MAC) in their first rematch since the Falcons ended the 2004 MAC tournament for the Flashes.
Bowling Green scored two goals just one minute 15 seconds apart late in the second half.
The Falcons may have out-scored the Flashes, but the Flashes outshot the Falcons 15-12.
Bowling Green responded with six saves for the game.
Freshman Kristen Nelson had three saves for the Flashes, while the team racked up two more saves of its own.
The Flashes are currently 1-5-2 on the road with only one more match away from home, which is in two weeks against Buffalo.
With the two losses, the Flashes fall out of fifth place in MAC standings.
They are now in seventh place with three games left in the regular season.
