Kappa Phi hosts Domestic Violence Awareness Night

The domestic violence victim from the Akron Beacon Journal’s “Becky’s Series” will be speaking at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the Kiva.

Last year, Becky Slabaugh was sprayed with nitric acid by her husband. Despite a burned face and body, Slabaugh is recovering and rebuilding her life. Tonight, she is sharing her emotional story with Kent State as part of “Domestic Violence Awareness Night.”

The Women’s Resource Center and Safer Futures will have tables and representatives with information about how to get help in cases like Slabaugh’s.

Kappa Phi, a Christian women’s service organization, is hosting the event.

The event is free to the public.
