Apoorva Jain
Senator of the College of Arts Candidate
Q: What is your platform?
A: “My platform is serving as a worthy vessel for all the students of the College of the Arts and making sure that their voices are heard, and their needs are taken care of. I’d make sure that they know that I am here to act as a liaison between them and the administration and I am always ready to listen to them. One of the main points that I would like to work on as the senator is improving the College of the Arts Advising as I’ve heard so many complaints and I think that it needs to become more convenient for the students. I would also like to bring free printing for the students of the College of the Arts as being a Fashion Design major I understand how expensive it can become.”
Q: Why should people vote for you?
A: “I believe I am the best candidate for this position since I am a junior and I am from India so I have a lot of experience in terms of college and adapting to a different culture. I know what it means to adapt and how good it feels when there is somebody to help you with it. I want to improve the lives and opportunities of all the students of the College of the Arts. I want to help all the students with the issues they face in college and my experience helps me in communicating with different types of people.”
Q: What changes are you looking to enact?
A: “Some major changes that I have in mind are improving the toilets of the buildings of the College of the Arts as the height of the compartments is not enough and some of these have curtains in the toilets which is very inconvenient. Also, not all restrooms in the building have proper sanitary disposal units which I would like to work on. I would like to propose new solutions to help increase the working hours of the buildings, especially Rockwell Hall. My plan also includes raising awareness of different events, opportunities and resources in the College of the Arts, so all the students know exactly what is going on around them. If elected, I would work to enact real change and help create a better experience for students in every way possible.”
