The Kent State baseball team will take its fifth consecutive trip to the South this weekend to compete against Elon in Greensboro, N.C.

The Flashes (7-5) are coming off two victories versus North Carolina last weekend, defeating the Spartans 9-6 and 11-5 and taking the three-game series.

With the victories, the Flashes jumped to the No. 1 spot in the MAC East Division and No. 1 overall.

Junior left fielder Kurt Eichorn was named Mid-American Conference Hitter of the Week after finishing the weekend 6-for-11 and recording two home runs, a triple, seven RBI and five runs scored.

Elon (14-6) defeated Campbell last weekend 7-6 but was out-hit 11-8.

The Flashes face the Phoenix at 4 p.m. today in the first of three games.
