Student arrested in Halloween incident
Delta Upsilon member in jail, awaiting trial
A Delta Upsilon fraternity member is in the Portage County Jail today awaiting trial after he was arrested Friday for his involvement in an incident Halloween weekend.
Nicholas D. Zajac, 20, of 202 S. Lincoln St., the Delta Upsilon house, was indicted by the Portage County grand jury and arrested for felonious assault by Kent police. His court date had not been set by press time last night.
Early Oct. 29, Dana Lim, 25, of Parma, was seriously injured in front of the Delta Upsilon house. According to witnesses, Lim was pushed into a moving flatbed tow truck. He then fell and was run over by the truck’s back tires.
Lim remained in serious condition last night at Akron City Hospital, a hospital representative said.
Delta Upsilon President Robert Lewis and Dave Maguire, executive director of Delta Upsilon Fraternity International, were not available for comment yesterday.
Kent police officials were not available for comment last night, but according to a press release, the investigation continues and more arrests are likely.
Kent State spokesman Ron Kirksey said the university will continue to monitor the situation, the Record-Courier reported.
In September 2005, Zajac was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Portage County court records. He plead guilty in the case.
