The Kent State football team’s three-game losing streak came to an end Friday in a 14-6 win over Mid-American Conference opponent Eastern Michigan.

The victory brings the Flashes to 6-5 (5-2 MAC) and guarantees their first season without a losing record since 2001

Kent State’s offensive play focused mainly on a rushing attack due to sophomore quarterback Julian Edelman, who is still recovering from a bruised sternum.

Freshman running back Eugene Jarvis led all rushers with 155 yards from a career-high 33 carries.

Kent State struck first in the game with a 68-yard touchdown pass from Edelman to senior wide receiver Najah Pruden in the first quarter.

After sitting out last week, Edelman returned to net nine completions on 18 attempts with 188 yards and one touchdown.

The second touchdown came in the third quarter when senior defensive end Danial Muir intercepted a tipped pass from Eastern Michigan quarterback Andy Schmitt and returned it 5 yards for the score.

Eastern Michigan (1-10, 1-6 MAC) scored its points from two field goals in the fourth quarter by kicker Andrew Wellock.
