KSU basketball: Men’s team tops Buffalo; women’s team falters at BGSU
The Kent State men’s basketball team earned their first Mid-American Conference victory with a 69-56 victory at Buffalo on Wednesday night. The win over the Bulls snapped a two-game losing streak for the defending MAC champions.
Senior guard Omni Smith led the Flashes with 20 points and 8 rebounds and junior forward Haminn Quaintance delivered his third double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The Flashes (8-7, 1-1 MAC) will host Ohio University (10-4, 1-0 MAC) at 2 p.m. Sunday at the M.A.C. Center in their first conference home game.
Elsewhere Wednesday night, the No. 18 Bowling Green proved to be too much for the Kent State women’s basketball team in a 74-52 loss at Bowling Green.
Senior guard La’kia Stewart led the Flashes with a double-double, 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Kristen Peoples chipped in 10 points in the loss.
The Flashes could not contain the Falcon’s senior forward Liz Honegger who posted a double-double herself with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The Flashes (6-8, 2-1 MAC) looks to rebound against Miami (9-7, 3-0 MAC) at 2 p.m. Saturday at the M.A.C. Center.
