Kent State will hold an information session about the coronavirus outbreak on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Kiva. 

The university said in an email to the Kent community on Monday that public health experts will lead the session, titled “Understanding COVID-19,” to inform people about the coronavirus and answer questions. For those unable to attend, the session will be posted on Kent State’s coronavirus information page after it ends. 

The email also said the university is working on a plan to allow coursework to continue if in-person classes are disrupted because of the virus. 

“While doing our best to ensure your health and safety, we are equally committed to making every effort to minimize potential impact on coursework should access to the university become limited,” the email said. 

Three people tested positive for the virus, all in Cuyahoga County in northeastern Ohio, Gov. Mike DeWine and Health Department Director Dr. Amy Acton said at a late afternoon news conference Monday.

More than 113,000 people around the world have tested positive for the coronavirus and more than 4,000 have died, according to CNN.
