Flashes down Huskies with strong second half
A second-half offensive explosion led to a third-consecutive win for the Kent State men’s basketball team on Saturday afternoon.
The Flashes (12-8, 5-2 MAC) came out of the break with a 13-4 run, in the 68-49 win over Northern Illinois.
Senior guard Omni Smith led the Flashes with 17 points, 12 of which came in the second half. There were three other Kent State players in double figures.
A lot of the offensive output was a result of the Flashes defensive pressure. Kent State forced 23 Huskie turnovers, which they converted into 23 points.
Northern Illinois (4- 15, 1-6 MAC) guard Mike McKinney led the Huskies with 19 points and seven rebounds.
