The Hattie Larlham League of Hudson is having its annual Have a Heart for Hattie Luncheon and Fashion Show from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 10 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Twinsburg.

Proceeds from the show benefit the Hattie Larlham House, a facility for mentally handicapped children and adults. The purpose of the league is to raise funds and awareness for the Hattie Larlham House.

This has become the main fundraiser for Hattie Larlham, said Ginny Hicks, co-chairperson of the event. The League of Hudson has raised about $550,000 for the Hattie Larlham house since 1985, she said.

All the tickets for the show have been sold out.

One thing donations have funded at Hattie Larlham is a sensory room, Hicks said.

“It has heat lights that affect the senses and other things they can touch and feel,” she said.

The fundraiser has also helped to fund respite suites, which allow families to visit their loved ones for an extended length of time, Hicks said.

The fashions for the show are being provided by Toni Hadad, a fashion buyer of 24 years in Chagrin Falls. She has been a part of the show for several years.

“I believe in the organization and all the ladies involved in it because they make it look effortless even though it is a lot of work,” Hadad said. “They are a joy to work with and very accommodating.”

WKYC meteorologist Betsy Kling is hosting the luncheon and will also be serving as a celebrity model, Hicks said.

The show will consist mostly of different kinds of dresses, including evening wear, Hadad said.

“This season is all about the dress,” she said. “They are a very strong category this year.”

Dresses to be shown include styles similar to that of Diane von Furstenberg, who typically designs wrap-style couture.

“It’s all about a blast from the past,” Hadad said. “A wrap dress with geometric print.”

Dresses will be available for purchase if they have not already been bought by the model, Hadad said. If this is the case, the person can come down to the store to purchase it, she said.

According to Hadad, the prices range from affordable to extravagent.

“Whatever the look, there are different prices,” she said.
