Communications major CJ Toledano was voted the winner in round two of the American Eagle Campus Comedy Challenge last night.

The event took place last night in the Rathskeller, attracting about 100 people.

Kent State was the fourth stop on the tour and one of 12 colleges to participate in the competition. Toledano and fellow Kent State students Jamal Husseini, physical education major, and English major Patrick Rigney faced off in the last round.

Toledano’s performance will appear on the American Eagle Web site, where, users will vote for their favorite comedian in a March Madness-style bracket system.

Professional comedians including Jasper Redd, Bryan Callen and Bobby Miyamoto also performed.

Redd, who hosted the show, said he likes the competition, but said that contestants shouldn’t be discouraged if they don’t move on to the next round.

“I try to tell them, ‘Just have fun,'” Redd said. “Comedy ain’t a sport.”

Redd added that the tour was a great opportunity for young comedians to possibly make a name for themselves.

Each student was allotted three minutes to show off their talents.
