Accessibility, cooperation Samuelson’s goals

Student organizations could work together much more often, said April Samuelson, senator for student relations candidate.

She said the student relations senator is important because he or she gives students a voice.

APRIL SAMUELSON

• Candidate for student relations

• Junior public relations major from Bloomingdale, Ill.

• President of McDowell/Korb Hall Council

• Involved with the Panhellenic Judiciary Board, the All Campus Programming Board Festival Committee and the Honors College Policy Council

• Wants to continue “Coffee with the President”

• Would like to see more accessibility for blind, wheelchair-bound and hearing-impaired students

Samuelson would like to see the Presidents’ Roundtable, a gathering of the presidents of student organizations, revitalized.

Samuelson said another goal of hers is to make the Student Center more accessible for blind, wheelchair-bound and hearing-impaired students. She said she has received permission to take a group of these students around the building to help identify problem areas.

Other goals include holding a “miniature BlastOff!” at the beginning of spring semester to make new students aware of student organizations and starting a “Talk with the Dean” program featuring deans from different colleges.
