Beckwith Orchards
For over 125 years, Beckwith Orchards has been a local favorite for seasonal enjoyment and places first for Kent’s Best.
According to their website, whether you go for an orchard tour or to check out their farmer’s market and gift shop, you and your family are sure to enjoy the variety of activities this orchard has to offer.
Beckwith opens up at the beginning of the fall season Aug. 1 and runs through Dec. 23. This family-friendly garden and orchard offer a wide variety of apple selections and educational tours by appointment. Make sure to stop by the bakery on the way out for a fresh pie or cookie.

Nelson Ledges Quarry Park
Nelson Ledges Quarry Park is known for much more than its unique trails and untouched natural beauty. Nelson Ledges website shows it is also home to music festivals, swimming, biking, camping and fishing.
In the 1940s and 50s, the ledges became a successful mining location for quartz and sand. In the late 1950s, miners hit one of the many springs and the 30-acre quarry was filled with water in no time. As the years passed, the Quarry became a haven for nature lovers and hippies.
From the 1970s to today, Nelson Ledges Quarry remains the place to go to enjoy the many offerings of the park and facility.

Towner’s Woods
The history of Towner’s Woods sets it apart from any other place in the area. While the park is great for those ready to get in touch with nature, it also offers a vast history to add to the appreciation of the area.
Towner’s Woods website explains that it is perfect for those ready to ski, hike, picnic and sled. The park offers a 40 car asphalt parking lot, an information kiosk for those wanting to learn more and access to an American with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessible trail.
This park is also home to the historic Hopewell Indian Mound Site which is a 1,500-year-old ancient burial ground. This 175-acre park has nine different trails and sits near Lake Pippen. This park is sure to pique the interest of many, regardless of the season.
