Bad News Beers advance to softball quarterfinals after dropping the Naturals and Team Speed
In the first round of the men’s intramural softball playoffs, the Bad News Beers were in classic “Bad News Bears” form as they defeated the Naturals, 9-3, with only eight players starting the game.
Pitcher Brian Easterday managed to blank the Naturals 1-2-3 in the first with only three infielders and three outfielders behind him. “Big” Ben Ramsier notched his third home run of the season, as well.
In the second round, The Bad News Beers came out strong with a four-run first inning after another Ramsier three-run home run – his fourth of the year. Beers ended up beating Team Speed, 13-8, in a rainy five-inning contest. Nick Yoder also went deep for the Beers.
Captain Andrew Lewis, Mark Wagner, Ryan Wagner, Chris Gregory and Easterday tallied two hits apiece.
The Bad News Beers will play their quarterfinal game next week.
