Good news, Beers pull off upset, win men’s intramural championship
Led by graduating seniors Brian Easterday and Ryan Wagner, the Bad News Beers won the men’s softball intramural championship Thursday night.
In game one the Beers beat Green Monster, 13-10. The Green Monster bats were strong, but the Beers were stronger. Chris Gregory, Mark Wagner and Andrew Lewis were perfect at the plate.
Ryan Wagner, the team’s leading hitter, struck out for the first time in his collegiate softball career; however, his season would not end on a bad note.
In the championship game, the Beers defeated No. 1-seed Team RENOB, 17-4, in three innings. The bats came out, as all Beers had hits in the game. Home runs were hit by Timmy Roland and “Big” Ben Ramsier – his fifth.
The Beers consisted of Easterday, Ryan Wagner, Lewis, Matt Erdelyi, Gregory, Nick Yoder, James Patti, Phil Lagnese, and Mark “Too Cool For School” Wagner.
Additional shout outs go to team “skipper” Gregory Wagner, and the injured “Flash” Hooper, who couldn’t make the game.
