‘Introduction to Autumn Sky’ gives clear view of constellations at free Planetarium shows
The Kent State Planetarium, located in Room 108 in Smith Hall, will offer its first public show of the year tonight at 8.
Brett Ellman, associate professor and director of the planetarium, said the public enjoys the shows.
“Some just like it because it’s a pleasant experience, and it’s romantic,” Ellman said. “Some people actually come on dates to the show.”
The show, titled “Introduction to the Autumn Sky,” will run for an hour, but Ellman said people are encouraged to come early and stay late.
“Before and after the presentation there is a wide variety of toys to play with for both kids and adults that relate to physics and astronomy,” Ellman said.
According to the planetarium’s Web site, the event will showcase prominent autumn constellations, point out celestial objects that are visible to the naked eye and tour our neighbors in the solar system.
The show is free and open to the public. However, it is not appropriate for children younger than 6 years old.
There will also be a free show tomorrow at 8 p.m. Those interested in this event should call (330) 672-2246 to make reservations, or visit http://planetarium.kent.edu for more information.
