KASA event aimed to raise awareness about genocide
The Kent African Student Association aims to raise awareness about genocide in Darfur through the event “Speak Now or Forever Live With Guilt: Stop Genocide, Save Darfur.”
The event, beginning tonight at 6:30 in the Kiva, will feature speakers, poetry and dance. KASA President Helen Arwa said the goal for this event is to put guests in the shoes of the people in Darfur.
Speakers will include a woman who survived genocide in Rwanda and a journalist who worked in Darfur. Dancers from last weekend’s Dance 007: To Live and Let Dance concert will perform a piece titled “Torn Asunder,” which was created in honor of the 20 million displaced persons worldwide.
