Kent State women’s basketball team holds on to beat Akron
The Kent State women’s basketball team edged Akron 65-62 in the M.A.C. Center today to sweep the season series.
The Zips had a shot to tie the game late, but freshman guard Keyla Snowden, who had five 3-pointers in the game, missed her final shot with five seconds left.
The Flashes were led by freshman forward Ellie Shields who posted a double-double with a team-high 15 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Rachel Bennett and freshman guard Stephanie Gibson also posted double figures in scoring with 11 and 10 point totals, while each had seven assists.
Junior forward Alisa Brinkman came off of the Bench to score 12 points for the Flashes and grab 7 rebounds. Junior center Anna Kowalska played 12 minutes in the game and went 0-of-5 from the floor in her second game back after suffering a stresss fracture in her right foot.
