Akron’s Wood to miss time with injury

Akron men’s basketball senior forward Jeremiah Wood will be out at least four weeks with a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee.

Wood, a 6-foot-6-inch forward, underwent surgery on his knee Friday. He went into the weekend averaging 13.4 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game. He was also voted first-team All-Mid-American Conference in the preseason.

Against Kent State on Jan. 23, Wood scored 14 points and had five rebounds.

The Flashes play the rival Zips (7-3 MAC, 17-6) again in three weeks, March 9 at the James A. Rhodes Arena in Akron.
