Women’s basketball team loses by one point to Ohio

A second half comeback effort fell just short for the Flashes, as the Kent State women’s team lost to Ohio 69-68 today at the M.A.C. Center.

The Flashes were down 69-67 with seven seconds left in the game when sophomore guard Rachel Bennett was fouled. Bennett connected on the first free throw, but missed the second.

The Flashes had trailed by as many as 14 points in the second half, but made a comeback with 11 second half points from Bennett and nine second half points from freshman forward Chenel Harris.

The Bobcats were led by senior guards Lauren Kohn and Simone Redd who had 17 and 16 points. Ohio shot 43.5 percent from the floor and hit on 8-of-24 shots from beyond the 2-point line.

With the loss the Flashes fall to 8-19 overall and 5-10 in the Mid-American Conference.
