A professional touring group will hold a multimedia performance highlighting a collection of poems by Langston Hughes in the Kent Student Center Ballroom at 8 p.m.

The Langston Hughes Project “Ask Your Mama: 12 Moods for Jazz” presents spoken word poetry, a jazz quartet and images from the Harlem Renaissance.

The Hugh A. Glauser School of Music is cosponsoring the event with the College of the Arts and the Wick Poetry Center.

“This is the first time we’ve done anything with the Wick Poetry Center,” said Josef Knott, director of the School of Music. “I’m hoping this will be the first of many.”

Knott said he hopes the free admission will “make sure no one would think twice because of finance.”
