Where to get a COVID-19 booster shot in Kent

COVID-19 booster shots are now available to everyone 18 years or older. There are several locations in Kent which provide the COVID-19 booster shot, such as:

University Health Services offers the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, the booster and the flu shot.

This location offers the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccines, booster and flu shot. They provide the options of getting both your booster and flu shot simultaneously. Walgreens has also partnered with Uber to provide people with free rides to their vaccine appointments.

  • CVS, 500 S Water St.

Same as Walgreens, this location offers the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccines, booster and flu shot. Lyft and the YMCA are offering access to a free or discounted ride to CVS for vaccine appointments.

Other locations include Acme Pharmacy, Discount Drug Mart, Giant Eagle Pharmacy, Meijer and more. A full list of vaccine and booster locations is available at Vaccines.gov.

According to the CDC, there are different guidelines of eligibility depending on what vaccine brand one received. For example, those who initially received the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccination series have to wait at least 6 months before receiving the booster.

People who received the Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine must wait at least 2 months after completing their primary COVID-19 vaccination.

Some people may prefer the vaccine type that they originally received, and others may prefer to get a different booster. CDC’s recommendations now allow people to mix and match dosing for booster shots.

Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson have booster shots authorized by the CDC.

So far, CDC reports show that side effects after getting a booster shot were similar to those after the two-dose or single-dose primary series. Fever, headache, fatigue and pain at the injection site were the most commonly reported side effects and most side effects were mild to moderate.
