Players charged with aggravated burglary
Two current Kent State football players were arrested on a warrant Friday in connection with an incident that occurred Halloween weekend.
Brimfield Police charged current freshmen players Cobrani Mixon and Brian Lainhart with aggravated burglary, according to court records. Police could not be reached by deadline for comment on the incident.
Mixon and Lainhart were at Portage County jail yesterday before being released, each on $7,500 bail.
A preliminary hearing for Mixon and Lainhart is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday.
The athletic department said it punished the players last season.
“At the time of the incident last fall, the players involved were disciplined per athletic department guidelines and were suspended,” Director of Athletics Laing Kennedy said. “We are reviewing the current situation to determine if any further action is warranted.”
Coach Doug Martin had no comment.
Mixon sat out all of last season after transferring from Michigan. Lainhart played in 10 games, recording 60 tackles and two interceptions.
