Kent State Police search for suspect in assault at math building

in an elevator in the Mathematical Sciences Building on the Kent State campus according to a university advisory sent through email and Flash Alerts texts Tuesday.

The suspect is described as a roughly 6-foot-tall white male, weighing over 200 pounds and in his mid-to-late 20s. Police said he was last seen wearing glasses and a teal-colored shirt.

The victim and suspect both entered the elevator Monday, Oct. 11 around 12:30 p.m. and shortly after, the suspect reportedly placed his hand on the buttocks of the victim before exiting the elevator on a different floor, according to the advisory.

The university police department learned of the incident today, Oct. 12, the advisory stated. Police requested the public’s help in finding the suspect and asked for anyone with information to call Kent State Police at 330-672-3070 to report it.

“Police are increasing their patrols in the area of the incident,” the advisory stated.
