Poli sci speaker to address U.S. loan crisis
Susan Hoffman, associate professor of political science at Western Michigan University, will give a lecture about the current mortgage/lending crisis at 2:30 p.m. today in Student Center Room 204.
Hoffman will give an overview of the Federal Home Loan Bank System. She will focus on policy lessons in mortgage structure, securitizing mortgages and resolving a mortgage meltdown and the ways in which these lessons were ignored by current policy makers.
Hoffman has had several articles published in the Public Administration Review. She is also the author of Politics and Banking, a book about the creation of financial institutions in the United States.
The lecture is sponsored by the Political Science department.
