Farewell to the Assoc. Provost
Kent State will get a chance to say goodbye to a long-tenured administrator tonight.
Gayle Ormiston, associate provost for faculty affairs, is leaving the university to take a position as provost at Marshall University.
Ormiston, who has been with Kent State since 1989, will start as Marshall’s provost Aug. 18.
Provost Robert Frank said although he is sad to see Ormiston leave Kent State, he is glad he gets to further his career.
“It’s a mark of his success at Kent State,” Frank said. “We’re terribly sad to see him leave. He’ll be very, very hard for us to replace.”
Tim Moerland, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, has been named the head of the search committee looking to replace Ormiston. The committee met last week.
There will be a reception this evening, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Schwebel Room, located on the third floor of the Student Center.
