Faculty approve tentative agreement
Trustees’ vote last step in bargaining
All of Kent State’s faculty will have domestic partner benefits this coming school year.
According to a memo from the American Association of University Professors to its members Monday, tenured and tenure-track faculty members voted to pass a tentative contract agreement. The union and the Kent State administration reached the agreement Aug. 1.
The agreement includes domestic partner benefits and improvements to health care benefits, as well as a 13.5 percent salary increase over the next three years.
With 64 percent of eligible members voting, the agreement passed 373 to 19.
The last step in the collective bargaining process is for the Kent State Board of Trustees to vote on the agreement. According to the memo, a meeting is scheduled for Aug. 27.
