Piller said she came up with the idea for Safety Week after last year’s mock emergency.

“It kind of sparked our interest to make sure that students are aware of safety,” she said.

This year’s safety week will include more information about environmental, food and Internet safety.

“We actually have a video on ways to protect yourself and what virus scans mean and everything like that,” Piller said.

Officials from Kent State Police, ResNet and Dining Services and the Department of Public Safety are helping coordinate safety week.
