Police continue robbery investigation
The Kent State Police believe the 12 men allegedly involved in the Sept. 14 robbery on campus are not students from Kent State.
“We believe they’re not Kent State students and that they were here to enjoy Kent State’s hospitality,” Lt. Carl Sweigert of the Kent State Police said.
The victims were male Kent State students, Sweigert said.
The robbery took place at 2 a.m., near the R-6 lot behind the University Library. One victim reported personal property stolen in a strong-arm robbery, which is a robbery involving physical violence but not weapons.
One victim was taken to the hospital after the incident and was later released. The police are still investigating the robbery.
“We do have leads that we’re following up,” Sweigert said.
No additional information about the victims’ identities or what was stolen has been released.
Sweigert encourages anyone with further information to contact the Kent State Police at 330-672-3070.
